Dental X-Rays
Dental x-rays should be part of any
dental examination when the dentist cannot see the areas between the teeth,
when a child has received an injury and when evaluating a child's oral growth and development.
Dental x-rays are a safe diagnostic tool required to properly complete a dental examination.
My office staff uses the most up to date technology,
intra-oral digital dental x-rays. We take computer generated x-rays,
which can reduce a child's exposure to radiation up to 90% from conventional
dental x-rays. The most common
type of x-ray a child requires is called a bitewing, this view allows me to see
the areas between teeth, which are not visible by direct vision, and check for
tooth decay. When children begin to erupt permanent teeth, a panoramic x-ray
(full jaw view) is taken to evaluate growth and development of the oral
structures.
